I'll Be Seeing You...

Never a dull moment. Don't let the grass grow under your feet. A rolling stone gathers no moss. These are some of the folk sayings that have been whirling around in my head as I contemplated this week's blog. I remember as a young mom with two very small and lively children, I used to think, "A dull moment would be nice....occasionally." Now, I find too many dull moments just plain boring. Fortunately, I have friends who keep things lively,, and I thank them for that.

(You know who you are!!!❤) At the same time, life offers new paths of challenge and exploration every waking morning. It's just too hard to be complacent. Our conversation today is about one of those new paths of challenge and exploration for me. I thought I'd share in case any of you are contemplating the same. I have decided to take back some...maybe all...of those things the time thief has stealthily dismantled one smidgen at a time. If you relate in any way or have tips of your own, PLEASE share.

I guess what got me started with all of this is when I was feeling highly energetic and

blessed one day, and I tried to skip. I COULDN'T SKIP! I loved to skip as a kid. I tired over and over. Nope. I texted a friend and told her, "I can't skip anymore. What happened? Can you?" She sent back a video of herself trying to skip and, honestly, her attempt looked better than mine, but not much. I told her, "I WILL skip again!" I've been practicing almost daily ever since as well as doing exercises to strengthen the muscles that "skip". I'm happy to say that I'm improving.

Now, skipping is trivial on its own. But I think it says a lot in terms of how unaware we tend to become as time passes. We just accept things as part of the aging process. Well, I will not go gently into that good night. I started taking inventory. I had already started the Anti-Inflammatory Life Plan (AIP) and have that progressing in a good direction. Along with skipping, the next issue I have decided to tackle is my eyesight.

I have been wearing glasses for about twenty years. It started with readers, which I didn't REALLY need. I just thought they were cool. It seems once you start wearing glasses, sight takes the cue and starts on a downward progression until you find twenty years later that you are far-sighted and near-sighted and in glasses full time. I, for one, am tired of glasses. They slip down my nose when I'm working in my yard in the summer. They get cloudy from the heat of my body when I'm exercising. The arms break. They get scratched. Sometimes the world looks really cloudy and forlorn until I realize that it's just crud and fingerprints on my glasses. So frustrating. Enough!!!

I have done some research on healing the eyesight. There are cases where eyesight has been restored without allopathic intervention. You know, our bodies are AMAZING earth-

suits that have am immense ability to heal if given the right conditions. I am almost a week into a regimen to regain my eyesight as much as possible, lose the glasses, and freely enjoy the beauty surrounding me without framed encumbrances. I'm not saying it will be a quick fix. It will be a process that requires commitment and follow through daily. In case your wondering or would like to take this journey with me, I'm sharing my protocol here. As I said, I'm only a week in, but I believe I'm experiencing small improvements. To keep this as brief as possible, I'm not going to offer details here. You can do the research. Here goes:

  1. Positive Thinking. 🤩 It is a proven fact that believing something can and will happen is a large part of the battle. There's a lot written supporting this, even Bible verses. One really good book I recommend on this matter is Mind Over Medicine, Lissa Rankin, MD.

  2. Get up, get out, and get some early morning sun☀ for about 15 minutes when possible. If not morning, at some point during the day. Incorporate exercises below.

  3. Stop wearing sunshades. 🚫😎 You get Vitamin D through your eyes.

  4. Stop wearing your glasses as much as possible. Glasses weaken our eyes.

  5. Exercises: Our eyes have muscles

    1. Bates Method - Put a black dot in the middle of a white piece of paper. Place it on a wall 20 feet away. Stare at it first thing in the morning and try to bring it into focus.

    2. Focus Shifting - Find a faraway object and an up-close object. Zoom in and out on these throughout the day.

    3. L/R Edge of View - Facing straight ahead, find objects you can see out of the corner of your eyes, however far or close they may be. Keep head straight, moving only eyes back and forth to find these objects. Practice throughout the day.

    4. Cupping - Rub palms together to created warmth. Cup over your eyes comfortably and blink quickly 30 seconds throughout the day

    5. 20-20-20- Rule - Take breaks every 20 minutes for 20 seconds and look 20 feet away.

  6. NO SCREEN TIME AT NIGHT, especially 2 hours before bed. This not only affects your eyes, but your whole body, including your circadian rhythm.

  7. Wear Blue-Blockers when you are watching TV, working on the computer or scrolling your devices. You can even get clip-ons.

  8. Get adequate sleep. That means having a schedule and going to bed at a reasonable time, then sleeping until you wake naturally without any aids. Our body has a rhythm it needs to be allowed to play. The 8-hour structure is not right for everyone. Your body will find it's natural flow. If you are having issues with sleep, drop a comment or message me. I was too. There are natural ways to conquer sleep issues.

  9. Drink plenty of GOOD water with a pinch of QAUALITY salt on your tongue each time. (not table salt - that stuff's poison)

  10. Rub Castor Oil gently on your eyelids when you go to bed at night.

  11. Supplement with Lutein, Vit A, Vit E, Vit D/K, Vit C and Zeaxanthin (from foods like eggs, leafy greens, oily fish, carrots)

  12. Diet - Of course diet matters. Diet matters in all areas of health and well-being. Sometimes getting on a clean diet clears up many chronic conditions so that nothing more is required. Hippocrates is attributed to saying, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine they food." This is true, but only as long as the food is whole, one ingredient, and organic (meaning, not synthetic) That pretty much leaves out all the center isles in the grocery. When we're trying to restore anything to health in the body, it's important to go with Fiber, Protein and Healthy Fats. That means NO Sugar, simple carbs, unhealthy fats, snack foods, very limited to no caffeine. I have found the AIP plan mentioned above to be my best method. But there's Mediterranean, Keto and other good plans. Remember, if there's something in the ingredient list you can't pronounce, leave it be.

  13. I've also put together a supplemental tincture that addresses the Eye/Liver connection. We don't give it much thought, but our Liver has a huge amount of responsibility throughout our body and it's well-being or lack of affects our brains, our eyes, our organs, our blood, our bones....well, really, every part of US.

There you have it. That's my regimen to date. I may add some things here and there as I research, but this is a good place to dive in . I'll update somewhere down the road. I'm thinking it will be a slow process. At the same time, I'm expecting to be pleasantly surprised, and that I'll pretty soon be able to say, "Ill be seeing you, without the old familiar hazes..." You know the song if you wear glasses.😉

I would love to hear if you've attempted anything similar or if you've actually gotten results from anything similar. It's so wonderful to learn from others. That's the best encouragement of all. Until next time.....Here's looking at you, kid.

And, as always, this is all for entertainment purposes. I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose conditions or prescribe medications. Please consult your trusted healthcare provider.
